Paul Keetch MP has received notification from the Department for Transport of plans for the installation of noise barriers alongside the M50 at Linton.

Revealing details of the works the MP said, "The Highways Agency has recently undertaken a review of locations at which severe traffic noise problems have previously been identified, but were not able to be addressed within the funding allocation agreed for dealing with such problems.

"As a result of fiscal stimulus and following the recommendation of the Highways Agency, noise barriers will be installed alongside the M50 at Linton with work commencing late in 2009 for completion in 2010.

"I am pleased to be able to announce these measures which I am sure will come as a welcome relief to those affected by the traffic noise problems."
