MP LEARNS OF CROFT SHOPS HIGHWAYS SOLUTION

11.24.39am GMT Wed 10th Dec 2008

Paul Keetch, Lib Dem MP for Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and South Herefordshire recently visited the Croft Court Shopping Centre in Ross-on-Wye at the request of local shopkeepers experiencing problems with the parking and delivery arrangements at the site.

Following on from the visit and as a result of his communications with Herefordshire Council and the local policing team the MP is pleased to report that the situation has been resolved.

Commenting, Paul Keetch said, "Herefordshire Council have confirmed to me that the Crofts is a public footpath running from Hill Street through to Broad Street and as such no vehicles should be parked at this location at any time, in the interest of public safety."

"Accordingly, double yellow lines have been installed at the entrance to the Crofts in order to curtail the use of the footpath in this way and the flowerpots which had been placed on this route are to be removed to ease pedestrian access."

"Loading and unloading is permitted along the double yellow lines as is the transfer of passengers and I am therefore satisfied that these arrangements are sufficient so as to allow the shopkeepers to continue their work and accept deliveries and potential customers to their businesses."
