MP WELCOMES DOUBLE TRACK ON COTSWOLD LINE

10.19.34am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 30th Jun 2008

As a member of the Cotswold Line Promotion Group and regular rail user, Paul Keetch MP, welcomes the news that Network Rail has announced plans to reinstate a double track on a substantial proportion of the Oxford to Worcester section of the Cotswold Line.

The line which links Hereford and Worcester to Oxford and Paddington is mostly single track and can be subjected to delay, however this new scheme will see 20 miles of track upgraded, allowing more trains and services.

Commenting, the MP said, "As a user of this service I am delighted at the news that the double track will be reinstated. This can only mean improvements in service for customers, many of whom are constituents who have contacted me about service failures and delays in the past."
