Keetch Supports Xerox Workers

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 8th Oct 2001

Paul Keetch, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Hereford, met on Saturday with representatives of the Xerox workforce who face the loss of their jobs as a result of the closure of the Mitcheldean factory.

Members of staff will meet today with Diana Organ MP in whose constituency the factory is based. Paul Keetch has already been in consultation with Diana and is supporting action taken to help save the jobs at risk.

Mr Keetch said, "It is important that I hear from all of the constituents who are likely to lose their jobs. I have asked that they each write to me or e-mail me with their details. The threat of job losses has hung over these people for too long and they should have been treated more fairly from the outset. The decision to transfer the factory abroad is, "

"in itself, a serious worry to the future of British industry and particularly in this locality."

Write to Paul Keetch either by post to 39 Widemarsh Street, Hereford HR4 9EA or by e-mail to paulkeetch@cix.co.uk or via his website.
