Equality And Fair Play Demanded By Local MP

12.00.00am GMT Mon 25th Feb 2002

Paul Keetch MP has today asked the Secretary of State for Health to explain why our young people between the ages of 18 and 25 have to pay prescription charges when a person in that age bracket in Wales (which borders his constituency) are exempt?

He has also asked for an explanation regarding the abysmal treatment being metered out to the Pharmacies in his Constituency.

He said, "This is a very serious situation, most independent pharmacies are having to cope with not only a reduction in the fees for dispensing much needed medicine but having to face the indignity of having to wait for some considerable time for payment. This places another burden on the small businessman and perhaps in the long run deprive our communities of a much needed facility."

If you have any experience of this already happening please contact Paul Keetch MP, 39 Widemarsh Street, Hereford, HR4 9EA.
